Promotion Measures by GWFF

A) Film prize

GWFF awards the following film prizes:

I. The “Best First Feature Award” for the best first feature of the program of the Berlinale within the framework of the award of the “Bären” remunerated with EUR 50.000.

II.The “Main Prize for Best Film” at the “FilmFestival Cottbus - Festival of East European Cinema”, remunerated with EUR 20.000.

III. The Prize “Beste Produktion“ of the “Studio Hamburg Nachwuchspreis“, remunerated with EUR 5.000.

 

B) Promotion of Young Talents

I. To promote young film and TV talents, GWFF offers annual scholarships to film university students (production division) to finance foreign studies at a European or American film university (e.g. summer session). This scholarship endowed with EUR 3,900 is paid out only after presentation of registration documents of the selected foreign film university. Besides the curriculum vitae, a calculation of the costs of the stay abroad and a statement of grounds for the application, as well as a letter of recommendation from the competent professor advocating the planned stay abroad must also be attached to the application.

II. GWFF also offers to a student of an East European university who is particularly deserving of support a scholarship (studies in Germany) endowed with EUR 4,500 which is awarded within the framework of the “East European Brunch” at the Berlinale.

III. Furthermore, GWFF supports “Internationales Festival der Filmhochschulen München“ and “Sehsüchte - Internationales Studentenfilmfestival der HFF Konrad Wolf“ in Potsdam.

IV. Together with the Film University, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Federal Government, GWFF awards “Scholarships for Germany” for the training and advancement of talented students in the film sector.

V. Moreover, GWFF sponsors since 2013 the “Artist in Residence Program”, a 3-month exchange program for young German and Israeli film makers in Berlin and Tel Aviv to get to know the respective film industry and to further develop their skills.
